Privacy Policy

Together with Sol ("Sol", "we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, the legal basis for doing so, and the rights available to you under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable German law.

1. Data we collect and legal basis

Account data (email address, optional nickname and profile photo): collected when you register. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract).

Content you create (journal entries, community posts, mood check-ins, breathing session records): stored to provide the core features of the service. Journal entries are private to you. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract).

Usage data (pages visited, features used): collected anonymously via Google Analytics using IP anonymisation. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in understanding how the service is used to improve it).

Newsletter (email address, if subscribed): collected only with your explicit opt-in. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent). You may unsubscribe at any time.

Payment data: collected directly by Paddle at the point of purchase. We do not receive or store your payment details. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract).

2. How we use your data

We use your data solely to operate and improve Sol: to authenticate your account, provide your private journal and wellness stats, display community posts to other signed-in members, and process contributions via Paddle. We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

Some of our processors (Supabase, Vercel, Google) are based in or transfer data to the United States. Where this occurs, transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission under Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR, ensuring an adequate level of protection for your personal data.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated personal data at any time by contacting us. We will fulfil deletion requests within 30 days.

7. Right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Germany, the competent authority is the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (BfDI): www.bfdi.bund.de. You may also contact the data protection authority of your country of residence.

8. Cookies

9. Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Data at rest is encrypted via Supabase. We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures (TOMs) to protect your personal data, though no system can guarantee absolute security.

10. Children

Sol is not directed at users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we become aware that a minor has provided personal data, we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notice or email. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
